10 Fixes for The Forest PC game Crashes, Doesn’t start, Low FPS, Can’t Save, Black screen, No sound

1. The Forest doesn’t start.
At first, check the game cache at Steam, there is a possibility that the game hasn’t been fully downloaded. If that’s the case – re-install the game.
If you have any antivirus software installed on your PC – turn it off while the game is being installed.
This may surprise many, but your system may simply not fit the game’s minimum requirements, so check them before installing the game.

2. The Forest crashes during loading.
For a proper run of The Forest you need at least 4 GB RAM.
Before starting the game close all other windows and disable your antivirus, if you have one.
The game runs much better on 64-bit operating systems, if you have a 32-bit system – try upgrading it to 64-bit version.
Upgrade your DirectX and graphics card drivers.
Reduce your graphics settings in the game options to minimum.

3. The Forest runs slow. Low FPS.
This concerns your graphics card capabilities and settings. So, if, for example, you have an integrated graphics card – upgrade it to a better version.
Reduce the screen resolution parameter in the graphics settings of the game.

4. Can’t save.
Because the game is still in its early stage of availability and needs some fixing and modding – just wait for an official patch. We are sure that developers are already working on it.
Try starting the game with “administrator” rights. (Right-click on the shortcut).

5. Textures crashing and glitches.
Upgrade your graphics card drivers.
If you have a SLI/Crossfire graphics card mode – turn it off.
Check if you graphics card isn’t overheating – try adding another cooler.

6. Black screen during gameplay.
Try launching the game in a window mode. You can set this up in the game’s graphics settings.
Check you Steam cache.

7. Loading is too slow.
This may be simply because the game still requires some heavy optimization. Every time the game loads it generates a lot of objects on the world map – this naturally consumes tons of system resources. Although, adding more RAM could solve this.
Be patient, don’t shut the game – let everything load properly.

8. Can’t play in co-op online mode.
The developers haven’t included this mode yet. But they promised to add it in the future.

9. When playing The Forest PC crashes.
An overheating of central processor or graphics card processor may be the reason for this – check your cooling system on both of these devices.

10. No sound.
Upgrade your sound and DirectX drivers.
Re-install the game.
